Youth Circus Performance Opportunities

Alongside our annual showcases where all Bristol classes perform for family and friends, we also offer different performance opportunities throughout the year. Small groups of students audition and create performances for in-house shows and external opportunities, ranging from our Christmas Social to the Harbourside Festival!

About Performance Troupe Opportunities

Circomedia does not have a permanent Youth Circus Performance Troupe – instead, students from all groups are invited to apply for short-term performance  opportunities throughout the year. This gives more students the opportunity to take part and gain valuable devising and performance experience.

For most performance opportunities, students will be asked to attend a casting workshop where they’ll demonstrate skills in a range of circus disciplines, and take part in theatre games and performance skills activities. Students will also have the chance to demonstrate skills of their choice and state a preference for what they’d like to perform.

Tutors will then cast students and confirm places. We can’t choose everyone, but we try to make the casting process a fun and interesting opportunity!

Students will then rehearse with a director and team of tutors to create a show or act. Sometimes, additional opportunities may be available such as taking a performance to an external event!

We charge a small participation fee for all performance opportunities to cover tutor fees and equipment and building costs during the rehearsal and show periods. These will be detailed below under ‘Current Opportunities’.
