Circomedia Summer Spectacular
Saturday 27 June, 7:30pm
Prepare for a dazzling, feel-good evening of circus and performance!
This joyful fundraising evening will showcase and celebrate a line-up of incredible artists from our fabulous community of creatives, including a thrilling world-record breaking juggling attempt from your host for the evening, our very own Rod Laver!
Expect breathtaking aerial artistry, astonishing acrobatics, awe-inspiring juggling, and more, all with a sprinkle of summer time sparkle. Come along from 6:30pm to enjoy walk-about performances, a raffle of exclusive prizes (to be announced soon), and a delicious selections of drinks from our locally stocked bar.
This vital fundraising event will be brimming with joy and entertainment, and all money raised will be invested in the training of new and exciting talent in contemporary circus and physical theatre.

Dress code: There is no formal dress code, but audiences are encouraged to don their circus sparkles and summer colours and get into the spirit of this vibrant celebration!

About the Acts & Artists
Rod Laver
Your Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Rod Laver. Despite having had a long career of over 1500 performances in TV, Cabaret, Circus and Theatre in over 20 countries Rod is always happiest in his home Circomedia venue at Portland Square, Bristol. In addition to juggling and hosting tonight, Rod will also attempt to break his own world record of ping pong speed and accuracy which he set on Chinese TV in 2013 in Beijing!
Emba in Motion & Ieuan Waller – Acrobatics
Emba and Ieuan are two Welsh acrobats, who perform in a silly, playful and lighthearted manner. Both Circomedia graduates 2025, this dynamic duo will be bringing their signature playful energy, with high throws, low catches and lots of spinning around. Look out for some funky dance moves too!
Emba is a circus artist known for her fluid yet explosive style. With rapid spins, seamless transitions, and emotionally charged drops, Emba’s work blurs the line between control and chaos. Each performance is a kinetic story – bold, visceral, and unapologetically original.
Ieuan is a juggler and acrobat who grew up in Mid Wales. He studied at Circomedia for 5 years, specialising in dynamic partner acrobatics and Club juggling. He likes to amaze audiences with his refined skills and intriguing stage presence. As well as performing alongside Emba, Ieuan will join a troupe of skilled jugglers for a high-octane group-juggling act in the Summer Spectacular!
Gravity’s Grip by Emba in Motion
Gravity’s Grip is a fierce exploration of tension and suspension, capturing the raw physical battle between the instinct to fly and the relentless pull of the earth.
Paddy Riddle
Paddy is a first-year Diploma Student here at Circomedia, currently studying Aerial and Acrobatics. He has been in love with Silks and Rope since he was 18 and trained Aerial in Scotland before moving to Bristol. As a performer, Paddy enjoys the freedom of aerial movement and how it enables him to explore space off the ground and in the air. He also likes doing big scary drops!
For the Summer Spectacular, Paddy will be performing an aerial rope act inspired by loops, knots and drops, exploring some of the dynamic training he’s been working on this year.
The Imposters!
Five characters on the run from the authorities escape capture, fall in love, fight their way through hordes of cops to solve the mystery of how they ended up on the wrong side of law. The Imposters is an exhilarating, short physical theatre performance that brings the charm, daredevil acrobatic stunts, romance, action and thrills of the Silent Movie Era live to the stage. Conceived and directed by Moira Hunt and performed by Circomedia’s BA Contemporary Circus & Physical Theatre students. Originally created for Slapstick Festival 2026.
Club Juggling Spectacle
A stand-out hit from the Circomedia Gala 2024, we’re thrilled to welcome another high-octane club juggling act to our stage for the Summer Spectacular!
Choreographed by Owen Reynolds – Gandini Juggling pro and Circomedia’s own Head of Juggling – this act will include mesmerising synchronisation, passes and tricks from highly skilled performers from across our community. Alongside Owen, Rod, and Ieuan, we’ll welcome jugglers from our BTEC course, Degree students, alumni, and fellow professionals for this must see moment!

The seating configuration for our performances is flexible, but as standard, our main seating area is raked. The front rows are level and accessible, and aisle seats are available. Please get in touch to reserve seats in these rows are required.
Please note that seating in our Gallery is accessed via a flight of stairs and is not accessible for audience members who may find stairs difficult or impractical.

Free Tickets for Carers
